Thundercat - New Tour 2020

Yesterday Thundercat announced a 26 city North American tour happening this spring and we are even more excited that it certainly could mean new music from him! Thundercat is a beloved artist amongst the Soul Surplus team with his unique yet trendsetting sound of new vintage soul, R&B, jazz and funk. As a bassist myself I always love that Thundercat has transcended and even innovated how people view and approach the instrument in contemporary music. With the turn of the decade approaching in less than a month we even have to consider the importance Thundercat has played in the decade with his contribution to one of the most defining albums of the era, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly. Some of my all time personal Thundercat favorites are Daylight, Heartbreaks and Setbacks, and of course the afro punk hippie anthem Them Changes.  -  John McNeill
