April News Update

As we enter into the second quarter of 2018, I figured today would be a good time to share some insights on where our company is currently, how we got here, and where we are going in the future.  Last month marked a full calendar year of Soul Surplus products out in the marketplace, and so much has happened since the completion of that first sale.

In November of 2017, the team had a meeting where we discussed where the company was heading, and by analyzing data, we were able to lay out a strategy for the near and far future. We had certain quotas in mind, so we moved in a direction to make those things happen. We did a lot of things right during that process, but we also made some missteps along the way. At some point I will discuss in depth some of those missteps, but for the purposes of this post, I would like to concentrate on the good things.

The first thing we did was beginning the process of outsourcing composition production to outside producers. We teamed up with a few guys to push more product to the market, and create more demand in the process. One of the producers/sound designers that we worked with, was our good friend John Smythe. John did so well for the company, that yesterday we were able to offer him a full-time position, which he accepted. It's been great to see how far we've come as a company, and this hire marks another accomplishment for the team. A few of the vendors we've worked with have actually branched off to pursue their own individual pursuits in the sound design world. We are grateful for all they've done for our company, and we wish them nothing but the best moving forward.

Over the last 2 months we've also had the pleasure of beginning the process of collaborating with some major players in the audio world. Unfortunately I can't disclose their names because we've signed NDA's, but these new collaborations have also awarded the company the flexibility to grow in certain areas. We will continue the push to increase revenues for Soul Surplus in 2018, hoping to secure an official home for the business within the next 6-9 months.

We just wanted to thank you for all of the support. We're moving towards releasing multiple products on a weekly basis, and it's only because of your support that we've been able to get to this place. I'll check back in at the top of next month with more news.
